Method of Distribution

How We Get Period Products to People

At Grace Period, we believe that everyone deserves dignity — and that includes access to menstrual hygiene products. We've built a hands-on, heart-led system to make sure these essentials actually get to the people who need them most. Here's how we do it:

1. Street Distribution Days (Our OG Method)

Our primary method of distribution is direct and personal. Through Street Distribution Days, our team heads out to homeless encampments, delivering care packages and having real conversations with residents. We have been all over California: Oakland, Berkley, Sacramento, Alameda, Sonoma, and more. We don't just drop products and leave — we listen, we connect, and we meet people where they are. This human-first approach helps us make sure no one’s needs are overlooked.

2. The Grace Period Pantry (NEW!)

We’re excited to introduce the Grace Period Pantry — a new way to get period products directly into the hands of those who need them, whenever they need them. Think of it like a "Little Free Library," but instead of books, it's stocked with pads, tampons, and other essentials!

The first Grace Period Pantry launched on International Women’s Day 2025, and we’re just getting started. This pantry is located just outside Hasta Muerte Coffee in East Oakland on Fruitvale. This pantry is Oakland’s FIRST free period pantry.

This pantry makes menstrual products available 24/7, no questions asked. It's about dignity. It's about accessibility. It's about making sure that periods don't have to be an extra burden.

We envision these pantries popping up in high-need areas across the Bay Area — creating a network of hope, one box at a time.

3. Partnering with Shelters and Community Organizations

We know that collaboration is key. Many shelters and community organizations across California don't regularly stock menstrual products — and that's a huge problem. So, we partner with places like the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, Women's Daytime Center, Generation In Action, Girl Scouts of Northern California, Shiloh Church, Be Encouraged (Midtown Church) and Redwood Gospel Mission’s Manna Home to make sure their guests and residents have what they need. Working together, we’re helping fill a critical gap.
